A complete copper alloy two-piece strap fitting of medieval date. The strap fitting comprises a solid, undecorated ring to which a small copper alloy strap fitting is attached. The fitting has a rectangular plate which narrows into a short bar which is looped around the ring and secured by means of a rivet through an expanded rivet plate. The front of the plate has a raised central rib with the lower outer edges being decorated with multiple fine incised lines in zig0zag fashion. This strap fitting is too small to have been used as a harness fitting and it is likely that this was attached to a belt from which a small knife or other personal item could have been suspended. An identical aretfact illustrated in Egan & Pritchard (1991:221 no.1190) was recovered from a context dating from c. AD 1350-1400.
