A post medieval copper alloy buckle dating to c AD 1550-1650. The buckle is incomplete and is missing one of its oval loops. The buckle was originally a double loop oval buckle with moulded decoration on the loops. The remaining fragment of the buckle comprises the central bar, circular in cross section, which holds the remains of the pin. At either end of the bar the loop curves away. The loop is thinner than the bar. As the loop circles round it broadens sinuously to create a slight indentation on the inner edge and a soft point on the outer edge. In the centre of the loop, there is a line across the frame where the pin lay and there is a curving indentation on the inner edge of the frame opposite the soft point on the outer edge. The pin comprises a strip of copper alloy which is wrapped around the bar and which then tapers towards the point which is missing. The patina is dark green. This is an exceptionally large buckle.
