A post medieval copper alloy 'dandy' button dating to c AD 1700-1800. The button is missing its attachment loop. The button comprises a disc measuring 45.67mm in diameter and 1.49mm in thickness. The front of the button is decorated with a floral design (possibly acanthus) with a branch of foliage along one edge and above this a flower with five petals each comprising a long loop with a line across at one end and beneath a row of curls (the decoration perhaps intended to give a slightly racy impression). The back of the button is undecorated. There is evidence of silvering or tinning on the front of the button.
