Fragment of a post medieval 16th-17th century Bellarmine or Bartmann jar. This is a sherd of German stoneware with a bearded face moulded on to the exterior surface. The exterior is mottled brown salt glaze, the interior surface has a cream grey colour, but also has a drip run of the exterior glaze running down the inside. The fabric is hard and grey in section. Face design has large eyes, a linear nose and a prominently raised moustache.
