A fragment of a copper alloy Bronze Age socketed axehead. Only a small fragment of the axe socket survives. There is a raised rim c.12mm wide around the outer face of the socket rim. What is left of the socket suggests that it was roughly rectangular in cross-section at the end. A small portion of one side of the axehead survives with a casting seam along its outer face. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded with a bright green patina and the breaks are all very worn.

Socketed axes of this form were in use in Britain from c.1300-800 BC generally, but this probably belongs to the southeastern group in use from c.1000-800 BC.
