A complete but worn copper alloy farthing trade token of 17th century date. The token was issued by Thomas Collier, a clothier in Witney, Oxfordshire, between AD 1648-1672. From the 16th century Witney was a very important town with a flourishing trade in woollen blankets and cloth. Several of the trade tokens issued in the town related to this trade, as this example does. Williamson (Oxfordshire) no. 227.
