A copper-alloy hooked tag of Early-Medieval date belonging in Read's (2008: 14-19) Class A Type 2 hooked tags. It has a flat, sub-oval shaped plate, from the base of which extends an integrally cast triangular hook that is D-shaped in section and tapers to a rear facing sharp point. At the top of the plate are two circular sewing holes. The front face has decoration comprising a grooved border surrounding a central spiral shaped motif that has single lines running from the spiral to each side of the plate. It measures 20.36mm in length, 13.99mm in width at plate, 0.64mm in thickness, and 0.56g in weight.
This is a hooked tag of Early-Medieval date. It finds parallels in Read's Class A Type 2 hooked tags, an example in silver with similar spiral shaped motif noted from Norfolk (Read, 2008: no. 65). This hooked tag is of c.7th-11th century AD date.
