An incomplete copper alloy dagger chape of late Medieval to Post-Medieval date. Only one half of the chape remains. It has an ovate cross section and a rectangular in plan tapering from the serrated open end to a rounded point with knoped terminal at the other. There are two transverse raised ridges decorating the front surface of the chape. The reverse of the chape fragment is concave with a bevelled edge to allow attachment to the other half of the object.

A very similar example can be seen on the database , DUR-917B22 which is dated to c. AD 1450 to 1600.

The object is 52.5mm long, 23.6mm wide, 3.4mm thick and weighs 9.25 grams.
