A 17th-century post-medieval copper-alloy trade weight of Charles I or Charles II, seemingly for a two ounce weight, now 11% underweight. It has the following verification marks:
- Crown over C* - the royal cypher (11 o'clock)
- The sword of St Paul - the City of London Guildhall mark (12 o'clock)
- 'A' for Averdepois - the trade weight system (1 o'clock)
- Ewer - The London Founders' Company mark (6 o'clock)
* The letter is not completely certain, but appears to be a 'C' rather than a 'G'. The style and relatively small size of the crown above it is also consistent with an attribution to Charles I/II. The relative positions of the marks establish that the weight is no later than the reign of George I (Biggs 1992, 50-52).
The weight measures 42 mm in diameter, is 5 mm thick, and weighs 50.53 g
