A copper alloy object which is possible the chape from a post medieval buckle dating to c AD 1660-1720. The object comprises a bar of copper alloy which is oval in cross section and which narrows gradually towards the outer edges. At the ends of the bar, there are two small knops which may have fitted into the buckle plate. In the centre of the bar is a raised rib which leads into a roughly triangular shaped pin. The back of the chape is undecorated. The patina of the chape is dark green and the surface is rough.
