A complete, copper alloy, lace chape of post medieval date. The chape is made from a rolled piece of copper sheet 0.7mm thick. It is broadly cylindrical, tapering very slightly towards the terminal which is flat, and formed by folding up the sheet. At the open end of the chape there are two u shaped cut outs through which the chape could of been pinned to its lace.
The chape has floral decoration in three panels, consiting of stems with leaves in pairs and multi panel flowers which are aligned around the circumference. The panels are separated by double grooved collars, with a single groove collar at the terminal.
The chape is red brown in colour, witha developing green patina. It does not appear to have been tinned.
The chape is 54mm long, and 9mm diameter at its opening. It weighs 3.70g.
