Copper alloy, silvered mount. Probably the catch piece from a dress fastener. A bi-lobed, domed front with filigree wire and stud decoration, attached to a bi-lobed plate with scalloped edges. The wire is in the shape of a trefoil on each dome, with a studs in each foil, in the centre of the dome and around the edge. The back is flat and undecorated. A separate, rectangular, copper alloy wire is attached at the back through two holes in the base plate. There a re traces of silvering on the surface. This is very similar in style to silver gilt pins and dress hooks dated to the tudor period.
