A Medieval silver half groat of Edward III, probaby dating from AD 1351-1352; Pre-treaty Series C (Fourth Coinage). Initial mark: Cross 1. Tower mint of London. Lombardic M, Closed C and E, Roman N reversely barred, wedge-tailed R. Annulet stops. The legend for this coin is unusual (see below). Reverse is slightly double-struck. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, p. 50, no. 1148.
