A lead-alloy weight of unknown date. The weight is bell-shaped with a circular perforation running through it. There are irregular indentations probably through use, but no discernible evidence of decoration.
The metal is rough and a mid-grey colour. The object is 16.98mm in length, 16.75mm wide, 19.02mm thick and weighs 30.97g. The perforation has a diameter of 3.86mm.
Lead weights such as this were used from the Iron Age through to the Post-Medieval period and are therefore difficult to date without supporting contextual evidence. Suspension weights have a huge range of forms and designs and would have been used as weights for fishing or goods.
