Post Medieval cast copper alloy pot foot and part of the leg dating to AD1500-1700. The leg and foot are D-shaped in section with a flat back and convex front; the leg is broken off above a transverse collar with an old break. The remaining section of leg has traces of ribs running down it. The prominent collar is rounded in section. The base of the foot is rounded. The piece is now is 42.36mm long, 19.97mm wide and 13.70mm thick; it weighs 43.20 grams.
Crudely made cast copper alloy vessels were widely used from c.1200-1700 for serving and cooking. Butler et al (2009:4) suggest there were four main types of leg used. This is a type C which they suggest was already in use by the late 16th century
