A fragment of cast copper-alloy Post Medieval (c. 1500-1800) crotal bell. The fragment is irregulalry shaped and from a spherical shaped bell horizontally bisected by a raided ridge. Very little remains of the upper hemisphere . The lower hemisphere has remains of what would have been a long, wide sound slit with circular holes at each end, at the bottom right of the fragment. Both hemispheres are decorated with a typical geometric sunburst design. Mostly a dark grey-green colour.
Chris Rudd's (undated) work suggests a date of 16-18th centuries AD, based on the one piece design, size and double hemisphere decoration.
The fragment is 37.6mm wide, 33.1mm high, 2.7mm thick and weighs 14.81 grams.
