A Post Medieval copper alloy buckle frame dating from c. AD 1720 to AD 1790. The frame is sub-retangular in plan with rounded corners and has a drilled frame for a seperate spindle. The spindle holes are at the centre of each shorter section of the frame. There is a groove running around the outside edge of the front of the frame; the back is plain and undecorated. Th espindle and chape are missing. The item is likely to have been used for a hat, knee or stock buckle. A similar example can be seen in Whitehead (2003) p 113; figure 729.
