An incomplete copper alloy strip bow brooch of Late Iron Age to Roman date (c. AD 25 - 75). One of the wings, the pin, the lower leg, the foot and the catchplate are missing. It measures 35.87mm in length, 8.98mm maximum width, 5.21mm minimum width, is 1.26mm thick and weighs 1.88g.
The head exhibits an incomplete rolled wing which is rolled forwards. The other wing is missing due to old damage and has broken along the line of the cental pin slot for the missing hinged pin mechanism. The bow tapers in width from the head and terminates in an old break. It exhibits a longitudinal groove running along each long edge. Each groove is incised with a series of small diagonal grooves.
