A late post-medieval to early modern (1600-1900) two-part strap fitting, consisting of a copper alloy ring attached to a sheet metal strap of indeterminate metal (probably a copper alloy), secured with three corroding iron rivets. The ring is circular in shape and hexagonal in cross section. It has a smooth green patina. The plate is rectangular in shape but cut inwards where it wraps around the ring. The metal is now purple in colour with a smooth surface.
The ring measures 14.0mm in diameter (10.6mm internal diameter) and is 3.4mm thick. The plate is 11.6mm in length, 10.2mm width, and is 1.9mm thick. Overall the object has a length of 22.6mm and weighs 11.15g.
Notes:
Of interest, the 'ring' part of this strap-fitting is very similar to rings of uncertain date recorded on this database, for example HAMP-59A4D2.
