A very worn very debased gold and copper alloy stater dating to the Late Iron Age. The uniface stater appears to be an issue of the Atrebates or the Regini dating to the period 60-50 BC. The stiking on the reverse of the flan is poor and also over half of it is off-flan. This is most likely to be a 'Selsey Uniface' type (ABC 488) howeverthe charioteers arm above the horse appears to be formed of three limbs, similar to ABC 521 of the Regini. However the latter is a very rare coin so on balance that recorded here is more likely to be the former issue. This may be a contemporary copy which could explain the poor quality of the metal and striking.
