A complete gold post-medieval 'posy ring' (or poem ring), made from a thin plain hoop inscribed on the inner band in lower case with the phrase 'in Christ and thee my comfort be'. There is also stamped maker's mark bearing the initials 'RD' in black letter script but the mark cannot be identified, however the lettering is consistent with a date in the late 17th Century or early years of the 18th Century AD.
