Copper alloy button. Cast discoid button with a boss on the back retaining the stub of a drawn wire loop. The object has been distorted by intense heat, presumably in a bonfire as the type probably post-dates casual non-ferrous metalworking in a rural setting. The front might have had a relief motif, but the form of boss for the loop is more usually associated with flat plain buttons. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900.
Diameter: 26.8mm, Thickness (clear of boss and loop): 2.0mm, Weight: 7.92gms.
