An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative double pierced lug bow brooch. It is missing most of its pin due to old breaks but is otherwise complete. The wings are semi-cylindrical in form and undecorated, separated at their centre by an integrally cast double-pierced lug. This holds in place a spring of seven coils, spring chord and top of the pin, the remainder of the pin now missing due to old breaks. The bow is D-shaped in section with flat back and rounded front face, tapering towards a rounded tip. It has decoration comprising a central groove at the head of the brooch with multiple transverse notches to either side. At the foot there is a single transverse groove. On the back face of the foot is an integrally cast catchplate. This is triangular in form with openwork V-shaped motif and folded outer edge. The entire object measures 48.16mm in length, 16.99mm in width at wings, 4.65mm in width at bow, 2.52mm in thickness at bow, and 5.37g in weight.
