Post Medieval copper alloy knife pommel with engraved date 1521. The pommel is oval in shape and has a slot cut in it to accomodate the tang of the knife, the remains of which are still present as iron corrosion. The upper edge of the pommel has to parallel grooves running around it while the faces of the pommel have two lateral incised lines at the top and bottom with the numerals 1521 between. This is repeated on both faces. The lines and numerals have all been filled with a white enamel. The object is now a dark red brown in colour, except for the white inlaid enamel.
Width: 15.76,mm, Height:14.20mm, Thickness: 7.61mm, Height with remains of tang: 16.76mm, Weight: 10.6g
