Dark grey flint with cortex, possibly collected from the East Coast, scraper. A small core with parallel flakes removed by unidirectional working; very short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows part of a curved end and marks the conversion of the core to a small tool. Patches of misty patina which had developed over the struck surfaces of the core are interrupted by the limited retouch, suggesting a flint which had endured a period of exposure was reused. Both episodes could be accommodated within the earlier Neolithic. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC.
