An incomplete copper alloy Trumpet brooch of Roman date (AD 75-175). Bayley and Butcher, Group B. The object is composed of a concave trumpet-shaped oval head with a partially retained integral loop at the top with a transverse strip across the base of the loop; the majority of the coiled springs head is retained and is held in place by an axis bar composed of the lower portion of the suspension loop. The pin is not attached but is retained and was found with the rest of the object, it is circular in section and triangular in plan. The catchplate is solid and is sub-triangular in plan with a curved outer edge; a corner of the catchpate is broken and missing. The bow of the brooch is sub-triangular in section and has in integral decoration below the shoulder which of composed of upper and lower collars between which is an acanthus moulding with a central ridge and three petals. The foot of the brooch is circular with a single raised circumferential band.

The metal is a dark greenish brown in colour.
