Eight complete, lead or lead alloy shot of the Post Medieval period, probably dating from c. AD 1600 - c. AD 1800. The balls are spherical in plan and broadly circular in section. The larger musket balls have a dusty white patina. No. 1 and no. 15 are flattened where it has hit an obstacle. A spru and casting seem remains attached to no. 4 and a casting seem is visible on nos. 1 and 5.
Running from top left to bottom right:
Balls 1, 4 and 5 have a mid-brownish grey patina. Balls 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8 have a light white patina. Abrasion caused by movement whilst within the plough soil may have resulted in the loss of some of the original surface detail.
