A cast copper alloy Post Medieval knife stop and fragment of the iron knife blade, dating from c. 16th century AD. The knife stop is bifurcated in design, but not of hammer head or 'horse's hoof' style. Instead the bifurcation is slightly curving and at a diagonal to the knife blade fragment rather than sitting horizontally across the top of the knife. The knife stop and blade fragment measures 19.08 mm long, 11.62 mm wide, 7.63 mm thick at knife stop and 2.7 mm thick at blade fragment; it weighs 5.4 grams. Cf. Read 2001 p. 88.
