Complete Medieval-Post Medieval lead alloy pilgrim pendant of St George and the Dragon c.AD1300-1350. Pendant depicts St.George, mounted on warhorse trampling the dragon and thrusting his lance into the dragons open mouth. The dragon itself has its head turned upwards and its tail is looped over, supporting the rear legs of the horse. George is armoured, with segmented leg armour and plate arm armour while he wears a brigandine on his torso. He carries a shield bearing his cross and the lance passes across it diagonally. He has a large saintly halo with cross hatching decoration. His mount has various trappings, mostly decorated with pellets and a chaffron. The armour of the saint would suggest a post 14th Century date. A parallel can be found in Van Beuningen, H. J. E, Koldeweij, A. M. and Kicken, D. 2000. ill.3. and pg271, who date it c.1300-1350AD
