Part of a decorated pin of bodkin type, made of silver [?], the head and point both missing,. Decoration incised on both side with wavy line and foliate scrolls, and * M* with a heart. Bent tip.

A number of bodkins of similar style and decoration have been recorded on the database and reported as potential Treasure. Compare LANCUM-BB6172A , a fragment from St Michael's on Wyre, and another fragment previously recorded from Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire (CAM-3728C6; 2013T824) and two nearly complete examples from Burton Overy, Leicestershire (LEIC-B982D4; 2013T57) and Sedgeford, Norfolk (NMS-3C72B4; 2013T112). They are all dated to the early post-medieval period, ie: the 17th century.

Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996. Dora Thornton, British Museum
