A denarius of Hadrian, dating to AD 117 (Reece period 6). PARTHIC DIVI TRAIAN AVG F P M TR P COS P P CONCORD reverse depicting Concordia seated left, holding patera, with statue of Spes below elbow. Mint of Rome. RIC II, p. 339, no. 4b variant, which lacks the cornucopiae under the chair on the reverse image (see below note).
Diameter: 19mm; thickness: 2mm. Weight: 2.89g.
Richard Abdy (pers. comm.) believes this coin to be a plated forgery with copper-alloy core. The bulge on the reverse is probably the result of a bloom of copper corrosion.
This has been noted as an interesting find by the recorder.
