AMPULLA

Unique ID: PUBLIC-4A5439

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

An incomplete medieval lead ampulla. It has a rounded body, with a concave neck extending to the opening. Originally hollow inside, both faces have now been pressed together. The neck is damaged, it is now ragged possibly where it has been torn across. The stubs of the handles are visible on both sides of the neck, at it's narrowist point. On one face is a faint relief design, possibly a four leaf motif. The opposite face is plain. The lead is heavily patinated, grey-white in colour and slightly pitted.

Some modern damage on righthand side of body.
