1. The design consists of a column of chevrons with a ridge running through the centre - similar to a feather. The reverse is undecorated. The surface is a matte cream colour. The token measures 14.18mm long, 12.97mm wide, 2.36mm thick, weighs 1.81g. Powell Type 4.
2. The design consists of a cross with a pellet in each quarter - possibly Powell Type 31. The reverse is undecorated. The surface is a matte light brown colour. The tokens measure 22.17mm long, 22.33mm wide, 3.15mm thick, weighs 7.06g. Powell Type 14.
3. The design consists of a nine petalled flower with a pellet in the centre - Powell Type 1. The reverse is undecorated. The surface is a matte grey colour. The tokens measure 21.61mm long, 20.8mm wide, 3.37mm thick, weighs 7.95g. Powell Type 1.
Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as use as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely. Those carrying initials are generally deemed to be Post Medieval in date (1500-1850AD), those which seem to mimic Medieval penny designs are deemed to be Medieval, the remainder which carry stylised designs remain difficult to date but the majority are probably Post Medieval in date c.1500-1800. Powell (2012) comments that Type 1, 14 and 4 are designs which were commonly made stock and occur in large quantities, dating to the late 16th to mid 19th centuries.
