A small and quite worn copper alloy shoe or knee buckle dating from the post-medieval period, that is c. AD1660-1720. The object is a double looped trapezoidal buckle frame which is drilled for a separated spindle which is still in place (as is the tongue), although the pin is missing. The ends of the buckle are rounded and the concave sides moulded with bifid knops. Each end of the buckle frame is decorated with twp small notches, possibly doubling as pin rests. The rear of the object is undecorated.
