Lead weight. Cast annular weight with an off-centre moulded aperture of diameter 10.5mm. The aperture is enlarged by nicks on opposite sides to a width there of c.12.5mm, and these may be a tying notch permitting the use of the object to weight a fishing line. Twelve stamped or gouged impressions appear on one side, probably the uppermost as the object was cast. A faint impression on the other side may relate to tied attachment: it extends from one end of the nicks appearing more prominently on the upper side as cast. Very lightly patinated. The fresh condition probably argues for a relatively recent date. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1700-1900.
