A post-medieval copper-alloy uniface strap mount in the form of an acorn (c. 17th century). On the front the cup is delineated from the nut by a transverse grooved low ridge. At the cup's base the acorn has a small rounded knop. The upper surface of the cup may have been decorated with cross-hatching but any decoration appears to have been worn away over time. The front is shallowly convex; the reverse is hollowed. The reverse features a pair of small integral lugs arranged longitudinally towards each end of the mount; one is broadly central, the other more off centre. They have been bent outwards, away from each other. The artefact has a largely red-brown colour with overlying mid-green surviving patina. Similar mounts can be found illustrated illustrated in Read (2001, 29, 37; refs. 331-334) where they are given the above dating.
This example has suffered a small loss at one point on its side. It measures 29.3mm long by 14.5mm wide, by up to 6.7mm thick. It weighs 2.96g
