An incomplete post medieval copper alloy vessel dating to the period c. AD 1600-1800. The vessel is a cauldron with an everted rim 153mm in diameter which has been pierced for suspension with two round holes at opposite sides. It is round in plan and narrows before expanding out into the body. There is a circumferential incised groove and an incised incription on the back and front. The letters 'B C' are present on the front and a 'D', reversed Ns and a closed C are present on the back. The handles have been sawn off and rivet repairs are present. Three feet are spaced evenly around the base, each is D shaped in cross section and has longitudinal ribs. An aperture is present on the base as a result of damage. A green patina covers the surface.
