An incomplete post medieval copper alloy mount dating to the period c.AD 1600-1700. The mount is broadly heart shaped in plan, with a collared neck where the base of the heart narrows into the remains of the hook. This terminates in a worn break before the hook curves. The remains of two iron rivets are present centrally on the heart, one towards the upper edge and one towards the collar.
This bears a similarity to Read (2001) p.42, fig 25, no 356, although this example features openwork decoration.
The mount measures 26.7mm in length, 11.1mm in width, 2.4mm in thickness and weighs 0.87g.
