A complete post-Medieval lead-alloy cloth seal (from 1703).
This is a two-part seal and the parts are connected by a rectangular strip.

Disc 2 is a jumble of surname initials* of the annually elected wardens of the Norwich Worsted Company, as recorded for the year 1704 (cf. Saunders, P (ed.) 2001, Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum Medieval Catalogue 3, pp.53-4, 79, fig. 20, no. 27 - from 1703). This is a precise date for the seal as textiles did not hang around long on the market. *BW/MHHL/DCWT/CS for the full twelve; John Black, Thomas Westgate, Robert Mott, Martin Houghton, John Harvey, Robert Lawson, John Ducket, Thomas Coldham, Daniel Woods, Stephen Taylor, Stephen Culyer and Matthew Smith.
