An incomplete (probably later) Bronze Age (c.1150-800 BC) copper alloy awl, missing its tange end (an old, worn break). Just behind the break the awl is square in cross-section, measuring 4.2x3.9mm. This expands slightly to 5.0x4.7mm after which the awl becomes circular in cross-section (the edges worn down) and narrows to a rounded point 1.9mm in diameter.
The patina is a dark green with light pitting and a smooth surface. The awl measures 37.5mm in (incomplete) length, max.5.0mm wide, max.4.7mm thick and weighs 3.68g.
Notes:
The form of the awl does not change much through time and similar objects are also noted in the Roman period and possibly later.
