A flint retouched flake of probable Mesolithic to Neolithic date c. 6000 - 3500 BC. The piece is struck off a secondary flake and retains cortex comprising c. 20% of the total surface area of the flake. The piece appears to be part of a well-worked core and exhibits four parallel negative flake scars from previous flake and blade removal on the dorsal face. There is a combination of long and short sub-parallel semi-abrupt retouch along one mesal edge. The ventral surface exhibits a low bulb of percussion and has been struck at a right angle to the direction of flaking on the dorsal surface, possibly in order to create a new striking platform on the core. The ventral face exhibits evidence of short, scaled, low-angle retouch at the distal end. The flint is dark grey in colour with occasiona light grey inclusions.
The piece measures 29.47mm in length, 20.23mm maximum width, 5.67mm minimum width, 10.71mm maximum thickness, 1.68mm minimum thickness and weighs 5.14g.
