An incomplete copper-alloy Post Medieval decorative dress hook, c. mid-16th-17th century AD. The remains of the dress hook consists of the one-piece, shallow convex decorated plate, which is formed into the shape of an acorn, with a debased trefoil attachment knop and circular hole at the apex of the acorn and two further circular attachment-knops with circular holes positioned opposite one another at the base of the acorn. The two base attachment-knops flank the remaining fragment of the sub-rectangular blunt hook, which has broken at the bottom edge as it turns upwards; the hook would have ended in a flat-end. The acorn shape of the plate is emphasised with a set of two incised parallel horizontal lines delineating the upper acorn segment from the lower husk. The husk is further decorated with a series of incised intersecting transverse lines. The reverse is concave and undecorated. The dress hook is generally complete save for the broken blunt hook. The dress hook measures 38.31 mm long, 23.03 mm maximum width (at base loops), 3.5 mm thick and weighs 5.11 grams.
