An incomplete copper alloy Roman initial T-shaped brooch of Hull T130, dating to the period c.AD 43-100. The pin is missing. The brooch exhibits two cylindrical wings at its head which house the axis bar, visible in the central pin slot for the missing hinged pin mechanism. Each wing is decorated with two longitudinal incised grooves at each terminus. At the head of the bow, there is a moulded V shaped ridge below which is a herringbone pattern down the length of the bow, comprised of a central groove from which alternating grooves and ridges radiate upwards towards the edges. The herringbone pattern terminates in three transverse incised grooves which run horizontally across the bow. The lower part of the bow exhibits a longitudinal central ridge, but is otherwise undecorated. The bow tapers to the foot which exhibits two horizontal grooves. The catchplate projects from the reverse of the foot and exhibits a rolled pin rest. The reverse is concave, and is undecorated. The brooch has a green patina on the surface, with traces of white metal coating remaining on a section of the herringbone pattern close to one edge.

The brooch measures 42.09mm in length, 26.05mm in width at its widest, 11.09 at its thickest and weighs 6.27g.

A similar example can be found in Hattatt, R. (2000) p.302, fig. 161, no.907.
