The inner face of the hoop is inscribed with the text: My (heart symbol) is onely yours, in italic script. The heart symbol is chased and recessed in the manner of the hoop decoration.
The ring is slightly misshapen. Internal hoop diameter 14.7 x 15.4 mm; maximum band width 3.1mm; band thicknesss 1mm; weight 1.43g. The ring has not undergone any cleaning or conservation.

Conclusions
The style of the lettering and decoration, and form of the ring indicate that the ring is of late 16th- or early 17th-century date. Enamelled rings have been found in Wales at Llantrithyd, Vale of Glamorgan (NMW ref. no. 04.3; TAR 2004, fig. 501), Lower Monkton farm, Monknash (found in 1993, with white and blue enamel), St Donats, Vale of Glamorgan (with green and white enamel and small dark blue pellets; 05.3; TAR 2005-6, 405, no. 1238) and two from Old Beaupre (NMW ref. no. 03.19, TAR 2003, fig. 420; one with opaque white and translucent green enamel; 04.13; TAR 2004, fig. 500)
