A Post Medieval silver sixpence of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603), dating AD 1574. North no. 1997. The obverse depicts a bust of the Queen in profile facing left with a rose behind. The inscription reads ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HIB REGINA. The reverse depicts a cross fourchee over the royal shield. The inscription reads POSVI / DEV AD / IVTORE / M MEV, with the date 1574 above the shield. Minted at the Tower of London.
