A complete copper alloy probable early medieval mount or fitting. It is pointed oval in shape with both ends curving downwards when viewed in profile. In the centre is a small circular hole. The outer face is decorated with a pattern of deep engraved lines consisting of one around the outer edge, two concentric circles in the centre and four pairs radiating outwards from the central hole. In survives in fair condition with a shiny patina in places, but several pataches of corrosion, particularly on the reverse.
The function of the object is not clear, although it may have been a mount or fitting of some kind. The style of decoration suggests a possible late Anglo-Saxon date.
