A Medieval copper alloy buckle of c. AD1250-1400 date. The buckle has a single loop oval frame with an ornate outer edge with two knops and a separate roller in the center. The strap bar is narrowed and offset and contains a complete wire pin and a separate buckle plate. The plate is formed of one rectangular sheet which has been bent around the buckle's strap bar and secured by the pin. The plate has five rivet holes to secure it to the strap, two of which still contain a rivet and another one is broken by an old break.
The buckle and plate are 41.7mm long, 21.4mm wide, 4.3mm thick and weighs 7.94 grams.
A very similar example can be seen in Whitehead (1996) page 22 ref 97.
