An early Roman copper alloy hinged dolphin brooch. The brooch has cylindrical wings containing an axis bar. The pin is missing. Both wings are decorated at their teminal with a vertical groove. The bow is comma shaped in profile and plano-convex in section. The bow is decorated with a groove running down the centre; to either side a series of diagonal downward pointing grooves project, creating a chevron pattern over the face of the bow as a whole. The lower half of the bow is missing.
