A medieval lead badge in the form of a squirrel. The squirrel is shown crouching on the floor. Its front paws hold a nut in its mouth. The body of the squirrel is slender, and tapers to the neck. It is decorated with a series of small pellets, with a row of moulded diagonal lines running along its back. The feet are also elongated and similarly decorated with moulded diagonal lines. The face is oval and the eye is shown by a single pellet. The ears rise vertically from the head; both are decorated with a small groove down the centre. A nut, defined by a large pellet, is shown in its mouth. The tail is slender and extends along its back and up to its ears. The tail is decorated with a series of moulded chevrons. A casting seam runs along the centre of the back. Two incomplete swellings are seen on the reverse, opposite to the squirrels' rear-end. This presumably is the remains of a pin lug.
