SCRAPER (TOOL)

Unique ID: SWYOR-F0406B

Object type certainty: Probably
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A flint probable scraper of unknown date, Mesolithic to Bronze Age, about 9000 BC - 1000 BC. The piece is patinated to white. It is an irregular oval with a convex dorsal face. The bulb of percussion is not evident. There is short, abrupt, sub-paralle retouch on one edge. The scraper is 26.1mm long, 33.6mm wide and 8.6mm thick. 6.19g.

Notes:

This material is recovered from the surface of an unmade track but the finder does not think it has been imported to build up the track. The track also utilises bedrock and red bricks, and the flint is from the same layers as these. The flint could also have washed down to these layers.
